Ma satisfaction? L’impatience des enfants avant d’arriver près de leur parent ainsi que la joie après la visite.
En Belgique, 17.000 enfants sont confrontés à l’incarcération d’un de leur parent, le plus souvent, le père (90% des cas). Un enfant sur deux ne rend jamais visite à son parent incarcéré en raison de la distance entre le lieu de vie de l’enfant et la prison mais aussi, en raison de la précarité, de l’absence de moyens de transport ou encore d’une situation familiale déstructurée.
Le programme Itinérances de la Croix-Rouge propose aux enfants d’être accompagné pour visiter leur parent et durant le trajet, de profiter d’un moment de dialogue et d’encadrement psychosocial avec l’accompagnateur. Son rôle est d’être à l’écoute, de contribuer à la sécurité émotionnelle et physique de l’enfant et d’être le lien, neutre entre sa famille et le détenu.
Chaque année, 422 accompagnateurs sont formés par la Croix-Rouge pour encadrer 312 enfants de 0 à 18 ans. Ainsi, 1600 visites sont organisées chaque année.
